Agency: DDB Health | 4A's MAIP Internship
The Ask: During my 4A'S MAIP application, I was asked to recreate a book cover of my choosing.
The Challenges: "Chains" by Laurie H. Anderson is an iconic and first book of "The Seeds Of America Trilogy", which is a story about how slaves Isabel and her younger sister, Ruth, were supposed to be released from slavery as promised by the will of their owner when she died but didn't do to circumstances. The book cover is iconic itself, however, the book itself is often overlooked by its cover being outdated in comparison to newer books out there.
The Big Idea: Re-design "Chains" book using Seo Young-Deok's powerful chain sculptures. Seo is a passionate Korean artist using intriguing sculptures to reveal the complexities of the human character. Through a meticulous and laborious process, Seo has created an impressive ensemble of works of art.
